Developing Strength & Grace
The Pilates Method (pronounced “puh-lah-teez”) is a physical fitness system originally called Contrology, developed in the 1920’s by Joseph Pilates. Pilates mat classes are a series of exercises performed in a sitting or reclining position on a mat to help build strength, balance and flexibility.
Pilates’ focus is on the “powerhouse” or “core” region of the body which includes the muscles of the abdominals and the lower back. In the words of Joseph Pilates, “Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness”.
The Academy classes
Currently , our Pilates Mat Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:30 to 10:30 am.
